Jau daudzus gadus Latvijas mūzikas akadēmiju un Viljandi Kultūras akadēmijas džeza nodaļas vieno draudzība un savstarpēja sadarbība. Reizi semestrī studentu un pasniedzēju grupa dodas ciemos uz vienu no skolām, lai dažu dienu laikā kopīgi muzicētu, mācītos, un uzstātos kopējā koncertā. Šogad martā esam ļoti priecīgi atkal pie sevis Rīgā uzņemt igauņu studentu grupu un parniedzēju Ahto Abner (sitaminstrumenti).

Izveidotie divi sastāvi atskaņos unikālu un ļoti interesantu džeza progammu, kas sastāvēs no latviešu un igauņu pazīstamākajām džeza tēmām.

The Latvian Academy of Music and the Jazz Department of the Viljandi Academy of Culture have enjoyed a friendly and cooperative relationship for many years. Every semester, a group of students and teachers from one of the schools visit the other for a few days of music-making, studying, and joint performances in a concert. This March, we are excited to welcome the Estonian student group and teacher Ahto Abner (percussion) back to Riga. The two ensembles will perform a unique and interesting jazz program, featuring popular jazz themes from both Latvia and Estonia.

The performance will include two combos with singers Isabel Reis, Madara Dzene, Everita Sējāne, and Marta Monta Zūdiņa, saxophonists Matea Jerkovic and Simao Ferreira, flutist Ariana Arutjunjan, clarinetist Katrīna Avotiņa, pianists Sanija Eglīte and Kelly Hiielaid, bassists Karīna Aurora Paņina and Fedor Bezrukov, and drummers Emma Tsirk and Mike McDermot.

Additionally, this year's project includes exchange students Matea Jerkovic and Mike McDermot from the Jazz Department at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
