The music is a mix of originals and well-known standards. Smile, My Heart Belongs to daddy and Young at Heart belong to the latter category. The trio does not only work with the melodies. They also work with the texture, the feeling, the structure and the soul in the music and in the meeting between the three. This is where the listener finds the reason why the record should be heard. Their calm, mature and clarified way of finding in the music is soothingly lovely. We are led into their musical world, where the songs written by Hess and Winter, respectively, go well with the well- known songs. Once again, Emil Hess has made an album that you will have to listen to if you have a sense of well- played jazz.
