Pettit/Leach/Goowdin/Saržants/Grunte/Porter JAZZ SEXTET

Koncertā dzirdēsiet slavenu džeza leģendu Art Blakey, Charles Mingus u.c. kompozīcijas vēl Latvijā nedzirdēta seksteta sastāvā. Šiem trīs mūziķiem koncertā pievienosies bundzinieks Fay Porter (ASV), trompetists Josh Goodwin (ASV), kā arī pašmāju kontrabasists Andris Grunte.

Darens Petits (Darren Pettit) (ASV) ir mūzikas teorijas un kompozīcijas nodaļas asociētais profesors Nebraskas universitātē, Omahā, kā arī saksofonists, kurš daudzus gadus piedalījies koncertturnejās kopā ar dažādiem Amerikas bigbendiem – Jim Widner Big Band, the Omaha big Band, the Las Vegas Lab Band kopā ar Mike Gurcuillo, the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, tāpat arī ar the Omaha Symphony, the Omaha Community Playhouse, kā arī Randy Brecker, Diane Schuur, Debbie Boone, Delbert McClinton, the Temptations, David Foster, Michael Buble, Frankie Valli un daudziem citiem.

Kriss Līčs (Chris Leach (Christopher Leach)) (ASV) ir pianists, trombonists un pedagogs, kā arī Omahas universitātes doktorantūras students. Uzstājies kopā ar tādām slavenībām, kā Ērnijs Vatts (Ernie Watts), Skots Vitfīlds (Scott Whitfield), Džekija Allena (Jackie Allen) un citiem.

Krists Saržants (LV) ir džeza, laikmetīgās un starpžanru mūzikas komponists-pianists. Koncertējot Latvijā, Igaunijā, Dānijā, Vācijā, ASV un citās valstīs, viņš ir sadarbojies ar tādiem mūziķiem un sastāviem kā Latvijas Radio bigbends (LV), Kenneth Dahl Knudsen (DK), Rob Duguay (US), Yacine Boularès (US), Konstantīns Jemeļjanovs (LV/US) un daudziem citiem. Mūziķa kvinteta ieraksti tika prezentēti lielākajā Eiropas džeza gadatirgū “Jazzahead! 2017” un iekļauti kompilācijas albumos “Jazz in Latvia 2018” un “Jazz in Latvia 2020”. Krista debijas albums “Then and Now” tika nominēts 2021. gada Latvijas mūzikas ierakstu gada balvai “Zelta Mikrofons” kategorijā “Džeza vai fanka mūzikas albums”.

The concert will feature compositions by famous jazz legends Art Blakey, Charles Mingus, and others, performed by a sextet that has never been heard in Latvia. These three musicians will be joined by drummer Fay Porter (USA), trumpeter Josh Goodwin (USA), and local double bassist Andris Grunte.

Darren Pettit (USA) is an Associate Professor of Music Theory and Composition at the University of Nebraska, Omaha, and a saxophonist who has toured for many years with various American big bands - the Jim Widner Big Band, the Omaha Big Band, the Las Vegas Lab Band with Mike Gurcuillo, the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, the Omaha Symphony, the Omaha Community Playhouse, Randy Brecker, Diane Schuur, Debbie Boone, Delbert McClinton, the Temptations, David Foster, Michael Buble, Frankie Valli, and many others.

Chris Leach (Christopher Leach) (USA) is a pianist, trombonist, educator, and Ph.D. student at the University of Omaha. He has performed with celebrities such as Ernie Watts, Scott Whitfield, and Jackie Allen.

Krists Saržants (LV) is a jazz, contemporary and cross-genre composer-pianist. Performing in Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Germany, the USA, and other countries, he has collaborated with such musicians and ensembles as Latvian Radio Big Band (LV), Kenneth Dahl Knudsen (DK), Rob Duguay (US), Yacine Boularès (US), Konstantīns Jemeļjanovs (LV/US) and many others. The quintet's recordings were presented at the most significant European jazz fair, "Jazzahead! 2017," and included in the compilation albums "Jazz in Latvia 2018" and "Jazz in Latvia 2020". Krista's debut album "Then and Now" was nominated for the 2021 Latvian Music Recording Award "Golden Microphone" in the category "Jazz or Funk Album."
